Give It A Name - London - Friday 27th April 2007

Give it a Name _ London _ 27th April 2007

Awesome, awesome day! I had so much fun! And I just have to tell you all about it!

We missed LostAlone which was a bit of a shame cos I really wanted to see them. Earl's Court is huge but all concrete - it's like some massive warehouse or aircraft hanger - totally impersonal, very odd, and the atmosphere to start with was quite low and subdued. Pink Spiders were awful. Then it was Ignite, I think, I can't quite remember. Or possibly The Sleeping? I dunno but they were quite good! The first band I ran forward for was Kill Hannah who were awesome! Amazing! And very cool! Then collapsed for next band - sorry guys, I'm so not gonna get a job as a gig reviewer at this rate! I spent way too much time at the various bars and bouncing round with my friends - great fun! Mindless Self Indulgence were really interesting - not really my thing but really energetic and fun - and their female bassist ROCKED!
Juliette and the Licks were great too! Juliette Lewis really ROCKS! She was all over the stage!
Fightstar - what can I say except - mwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Alexisonfire - I'm sorry guys but this band just bored me sooooo much! There's nothing original or interesting about their music, it was just BORING!
Next up, The Fucking Used! Ok, I'm going to upset more people now cos I think Bert is a total twonk and he did nothing to make me change my mind here! He went on a rant in between every song to the point where they had to cut short their set! And they were the only band to come on stage late!
HIM absolutely ROCKED! I was 2 or 3 from the front - it pays to be short and female and bouncey sometimes! Ville smiled at me!!!!! *swoons* Anyway - in no particular order - cos I can't exactly remember - here's what they played ----
they opened with a song I didn't recognise - very fast, punk, kinda cool!
Killing Loneliness - Ville forgot the words as per usual - honestly I don't think he likes this song! but it was OK cos the crowd just kept singing along til he caught up! He kept giggling - very sweet!
Wings of a Butterfly
Vampire Heart
Join Me in Death - huge singalong to this one - Ville quieted the band and just let the crowd take it - it was awesome!
Sweet 666
Right here in my Arms - I love this song so much!
It's all Tears - Ok so I was bouncing up and down and dancing and singing along to every song but during this one theses guys behind me said 'Is this a new one?' - idiots! Actually it was great to see so many guys there in HIM Tshirts and not just loads of teeny bop girls (yeah I know I'm a teenager too but hey, we all have our own prejudices! lol)
Under the Rose - he forgot the words to this one too! And I laughed so loud he looked right at me and gave me a big grin and a little bow - sigh! swoon! faint!
Buried Alive by Love - end song and no encore - boo hiss!
New one - Passion's Killing Floor maybe? Anyway it was bloody brilliant and I can't wait to hear more new stuff cos it seemed a lot heavier but still melodic and romantic. perfect!
erm, I think that's it? Any corrections or additions gratefully received!
Ville was so funny, and I thought he looked great - I was so happy he still had his curly twirly tash! Wasn't so in love with the huge cardigan thing he was wearing but when he took it off there were so many wolf whistles and cat calls and he did a little dance! He kept doing this silly 'I'm a little teapot' dance and shaking his booty - dear god, yes! He did waffle on quite a bit in between songs and Burton had to tell him to wind it up at one point! But they were all looking well and healthy and happy - ear to ear grins all round!
Anyway I'm still bouncing! Great day out! And just in case you missed it - Ville smiled at me!!!!!!! Totally smitten here!
